Geordanis Aguilera Horta was born august 26, 1981 in Havana, Cuba.
Since he was young he was attracted to visual art and at an early age he made the decision to be a professional painter. He put himself in contact with Cuban artists, from whom he learned to paint and got to know the working materials and how to use these.
Because of Cuba's economical situation it was hard to obtain materials. Horta started making his own materials and experimented with all kinds of products that could serve him in painting, like earth, vinyl, and other things that could be used for paint. Arriving in Holland in 2000, he was attracted to new styles and the artistic movement of Modern Art. Studying and combining these with his own investigation, he opened his view more to the world of colour. In this way, colour became a primary factor of his work. He discovered and identified this in his work and himself, like he also did with the Dutch culture, which marks a great change in his life.
